Donor Privacy Policy
The Acorn Scholarship Fund respects the privacy of its donors.
Information Collected
The fund collects and stores these kinds of donor information:
- Names of donors
- Addresses of donors
- Donor email addresses
- Amounts, dates pledged, dates received, and payment methods of donations
- Whether the donors wish to have their name listed on the Fund’s website and how they would like their names displayed
Checks received as donations are deposited electronically and the paper check is stored in paper files. The fund does not store scanned copies of checks online. When the checks clear, the check is marked “deposited.” Correspondence sent with a donation is stored with the check.
The Fund receives credit card payments. The Fund prints and stores paper copies of the notification of the donation. However, these notifications do not contain credit card numbers, expiration dates, or other sensitive details about the credit card.
The Fund is required to report annually donations of $5000 or more to the Internal Revenue Service on Schedule B of Form 990-EZ.
How Information is Used
The Fund uses donor information to:
- Send acknowledgement letters as required by IRS regulation
- Submit annual forms required by the IRS
- Send newsletters and notices about the fund
- Analyze internal marketing efforts
With the authorization of donors, the Fund posts the names of donors on its website. The Fund does not post any indication of the amount of the donation.
No Sharing of Personal Information
The Fund does not sell, rent, trade, or transfer donor information to any organization or persons outside of the Fund.
The Fund takes security precautions to protect donor information and depends on the security of vendors providing computer services. However, security measures may fail. The Fund is not responsible for damages or liabilities relating to security failures.
